Two positions, a graduate research assistant and a postdoc, are available in the computational materials science group at Georgia institute of Technology. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with background in physics, materials science, or mechanical engineering who are interested in further their scientific research endeavor.

Our group is active in several areas of materials science research. We are currently looking for people conducting research in

  • Large scale simulations of plasticity, fracture, and defects in non-crystalline materials,
  • Atomistic and continuum simulations of nano- and poly-crystalline materials
  • Irradiation damage to materials.

Suitable candidates with experience in the above areas and with statistical physics, thermodynamics and kinetics, mechanical behaviors, phase transitions, computing languages (Fortran, C, C++, parallel computing, Unix programming, and Linux), and simulation methods such as molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo, Langevin dynamics, finite elements method, and electronic structure calculation, is definitely a plus; a strong math and physics background is strongly preferred. For more details about our research, please go to our Computational Materials Science Group website.
